Power of attorney cancellation in the UAE
A principal who no longer wants the agent to act cancels the power of attorney and notifies the agent of the cancellation. We prepare the cancellation and coordinate its route.
When the principal may cancel
Under the Civil Transactions Law issued by Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025, the principal may dismiss the agent or restrict the agency whenever he wishes. Where a right of a third party is attached to the agency, or the agency was issued in the agent’s favour, it may not be ended or restricted without the consent of the person in whose favour it was issued.
Cancellation route
- The cancellation is completed before the notary public, and the route depends on the authority that issued the power of attorney.
- Dubai Courts’ legal notices service can be used to notify the agent of the cancellation.
- Some cases need additional notification or steps, depending on how the power of attorney was used.
What we need to prepare the cancellation
- Principal’s Emirates ID or passport.
- A copy of the power of attorney, or its number, date and issuing authority.
- Agent’s name and address.
Steps
- Send the details over WhatsApp or email.
- We prepare the cancellation in the appropriate format based on the power of attorney and its issuing authority.
- You review and approve the draft.
- The principal completes the cancellation with the notary public, and the agent is notified.
