Special power of attorney in the UAE

A special power of attorney specifies the type of act the agent carries out. The law requires it for every act outside administration and preservation. We prepare the power of attorney and coordinate its notarization route.

When a special power of attorney is required

Article 870 of the UAE Civil Transactions Law, issued by Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025 and in force since 1 June 2026, provides that every act outside administration and preservation requires a special power of attorney specifying the type of act and the steps it involves, in particular:

Specifying the subject of the act

A special power of attorney for a certain type of legal act is valid even if the subject of the act is not specifically identified, unless the act is a donation (Article 870).

We include the details of the subject, such as the property or the vehicle, where the receiving authority requires them.
