Power of attorney for vehicle purchase in Dubai
A vehicle purchase power of attorney authorises the agent to buy a vehicle in the principal’s name and register it with the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai. We prepare the power of attorney and coordinate its notarization route.
Roads and Transport Authority requirements
For changing vehicle ownership, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai requires:
- Ratification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for powers of attorney issued outside the UAE.
- Personal attendance of the buyer or the legal representative when applying at the Authority’s Customer Happiness or inspection centres.
Powers in a vehicle purchase power of attorney
The power of attorney sets out the powers the buyer grants the agent, such as signing the sale and purchase agreement, paying the fees, insuring the vehicle, and registering it in the principal’s name.
What we need to prepare the power of attorney
- Buyer’s Emirates ID.
- Details of the vehicle, where already identified.
- Agent’s full name, nationality, and Emirates ID or passport number.
- The powers to be granted.
Notarization
We coordinate the appropriate notarization route through Dubai Courts or the relevant federal channel, depending on the POA and the principal’s details.
- At Dubai Courts, remote notarization requires a valid Emirates ID.
- If the party holds a passport only, without an Emirates ID, Dubai Courts requires personal attendance before the notary public.
Steps
- Send the documents over WhatsApp or email.
- We prepare the power of attorney in the appropriate format for notarization based on the transaction details.
- You review and approve the draft.
- The principal completes the required notarization or signing step through the applicable channel.
