Power of attorney for vehicle sale in Dubai
A vehicle sale power of attorney authorises the agent to sell the principal’s vehicle and transfer its ownership through the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai. We prepare the power of attorney and coordinate its notarization route.
Legal basis
Article 870 of the UAE Civil Transactions Law, issued by Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025 and in force since 1 June 2026, lists sale among the acts that require a special power of attorney specifying the type of act.
Roads and Transport Authority requirements
For changing vehicle ownership, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai requires that:
- The legal representative’s power of attorney stipulates the sale and disposal of vehicles.
- Powers of attorney issued outside the UAE are ratified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- The owner or the legal representative attends in person when applying at the Authority’s Customer Happiness or inspection centres.
What we need to prepare the power of attorney
- Owner’s Emirates ID or passport.
- Vehicle ownership card (Mulkiya).
- Agent’s full name, nationality, and Emirates ID or passport number.
Notarization
We coordinate the appropriate notarization route through Dubai Courts or the relevant federal channel, depending on the POA and the principal’s details.
- At Dubai Courts, remote notarization requires a valid Emirates ID.
- If the party holds a passport only, without an Emirates ID, Dubai Courts requires personal attendance before the notary public.
Steps
- Send the documents over WhatsApp or email.
- We prepare the power of attorney in the appropriate format for notarization based on the transaction details.
- You review and approve the draft.
- The principal completes the required notarization or signing step through the applicable channel.
